Are You Thankful?

in Wanting To Improve

Can you think of 10 things that you are thankful for? Sounds easy, but some people will struggle with this. We all can come up with the quick and easy ones for instance:

1. I am thankful for being alive.
2. I am thankful for my health.
3. I am thankful for my family.

Now dig deeper to come up with 10. I WANT you to really try.

4. I am thankful for my husband even when he lies on the couch barking orders or asks stupid questions, or can’t find something he’s misplaced and thinks I know where it is. I usually do, but I like to act like I don’t know. Once, he even called me at work from home to ask me where he put his sunglasses – Really?! Hello, I’m at work and don’t have a camera on you as soon as you walk in the door (hmmmm, no it would just piss me off to watch him all day long go from the kitchen, to the bathroom, to the couch, kitchen, bathroom, couch, etc.).

5. I am thankful for my dog even when she drives me nuts when I take her out in the cold and rain and she has to smell the same blade of grass that she smells every time she goes outside from top to bottom, over and over again. What new smell could possibly be there that she hasn’t analyzed a couple of hours ago?

6. I am thankful for having food to eat even though I hate grocery shopping and then having to put it all away, prepare meals, cook, and clean up afterwards and then feel guilty that I ate so much of it.

7. I am thankful for having a nice home even though I hate cleaning it.

8. I am thankful to be employed. I could say a lot here about what I don’t like about working, but you never know who will read this, so as I said before…I am thankful to be employed.

9. I am thankful for my wonderful, beautiful teenage kids. My 18 year old daughter and my 16 year old son….enough said, imagine my stress but I am thankful for them.

10. I am thankful that I have an attitude of wanting to express my thanks for my life.

Most of all I am thankful that I can come up with 10 things to be thankful about. We tend to forget all the joy that life has to offer, especially when things are tough. Don’t take everything so seriously, the holidays are coming up and times can be stressful.

Take a moment and do something nice for yourself or just sit and think of what you are thankful for. Maybe it will help you deal with a bad situation or simply make you feel better. Being thankful is a great way to try and improve one’s spirit.

I wish happiness, health, and peace to everyone!

I’m thankful for a lot, but the following tops my list:
-My beautiful immediate family who make me laugh and give me the strength I need when I flounder
-My super extended family who love me for who I am
-Our newly adopted home of Canada/Vancouver, which is an amazing city
-My husband’s job which provides us with our daily bread (and butter and jam…)
-My love of reading
-My company; Write Choice For You (http://writechoiceforyou.com)
-All the holidays we’ve ever taken which have given us a chance to visit some incredible places
-All our friends all over the world
-The people we’ve met and those we are yet to meet
- Our health
